Women's Empowerment & Economic Independence

Preschool for young children · Savings groups & financial training · Small business skills

In traditional communities, women carry an invisible burden: they care for the children, grow food and keep the household going—and as a result they have no time, no money, no power to shape their own future. Our second focus area: freeing women from this cycle so that they have choices. Not because we want to change them, but because they deserve it. Preschool for young children: When young children go to school—safely, with food and attention—a door opens. Mothers get hours of their day back. They can train, work, rest, grow. Children get a better start. This is not babysitting; this is transformation.

Savings groups & financial training: Money is power. Women learn to save together, share risks and exchange knowledge. They learn how money works, so that they can build their own future instead of depending on others. Small business skills: Training in small-scale enterprise means that women can generate their own income. This is not supplementary income—this is primary income, this is the future, this is independence. This is dignity. The outcome: women who are not dependent, who can choose, who support their families from a place of strength, not out of need.

An example of such a savings project:

We have found ten women from the small neighbouring village of Gumulu who are willing to take on a project with us for 5 years, under the guidance of the foundation.

They prepare a plot of land for growing crops. After an inspection by us, they receive a one-off supply of seeds.

We will sell the harvest together. They receive 30 percent of the proceeds straight into their hands. We will reinvest 70 percent: the first time in young fruit trees, so that after 4 years they have an orchard with fruit for themselves and to sell.

The year after that we do the same again, building a chicken run and keeping chickens, etc., etc.

So that after five years they have a much better life!

All of this by giving seeds just once and providing good guidance. How cool is that!
