Of the more than 5,000 people living in Kande, the local board selected those who cannot manage on their own. There are currently 65 families who, due to various circumstances, fall below the minimum. Realise that an average family earns about one dollar a day - so these people earn almost nothing.
We have five local people who, together with the village elders and the medicine man, map out the greatest need. This way, when enough money comes in, we can do something extra beyond the basic necessities: blankets, sheets, mattresses and possibly beds.
Due to the bad weather, the need was so high that I donated money myself before the foundation was official. This was to ease the great need and to check that the distribution goes well - so that we can show you, the donors, that 100% of the money is spent well.
